To commemorate the 85th birth anniversary of Mr. Pan Shoufu, the co-founder of IAMP, IAMP organized a series of commemorative activities.
Through elaborate organization, the commemorative collection was first officially published in September 2020. More than 100 scientific and technological workers from over 40 scientific research institutions in our country and abroad have devoted themselves to writing 30 commemorative and scientific articles. These articles were published in the Chinese Journal of Atomic and Molecular Physics, the professional academic journal of atomic and molecular physics ( the 6th issue of 2020), to commemorate the birthday of Mr. Pan Shoufu. Approved by Jilin University and the Ministry of Education, an international academic seminar on "Atomic Level Theories and Experiments and Commemorating the 85th Anniversary of Pan Shoufu’s Birth" was held online on October 23, 2020. Not only that, but also a visit to Mr. Pan Shoufu's friends and deeds collection activities.
As an important part of the series of commemorative activities, an international academic seminar on "Theories and Experiments at the Atomic Level and Commemorating the 85th Anniversary of Pan Shoufu's Birth" was held on October 23, 2020. At the opening ceremony, faculty Qi Yueying from Jiaxing College delivered a speech instead of her tutor, Ms. Ding Peizhu. Professor Ding Dajun reviewed the friendship with Mr. Pan for half a century and thanked for organizing this meaningful commemorative event. Mr. Pan’s student faculty Zhou Zhongyuan and faculty Zhou Yajun delivered speeches respectively, recalling the important contributions of professor Pan in the establishment and development of IAMP, as well as their long-term study and working life under the guidance of professor Pan. Director Hu Zhan represented IAMP to give a speech, thanking all domestic and foreign experts and scholars for participating in the conference and reviewing the past that they were taught by Mr. Pan during their student days. During the period, professor Liu Xueshen, Yan Bing, and Dai Zhenwen also reviewed relevant research work under the guidance of Mr. Pan. In the academic report section, experts and scholars from 12 domestic and foreign scientific research institutions gave 15 invited reports, including not only physics research at the atomic level, but also physics and chemistry, life sciences, materials science, etc. At the cutting edge of intersecting fields, rich discussions and exchanges were held during the meeting.
At the closing ceremony of the seminar, Mr. Zou Guangtian, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, came to the online conference and delivered a passionate speech. Mr. Zou reviewed the work and life with Mr. Pan under the leadership of Mr. Gou Qingquan, and encouraged every participant to work actively and contribute to the construction of the country. On behalf of the organizing committee of the commemorative event, professor Wang Zhigang gave a summary report on the related initiation and preparation process. The participants had an enthusiastic discussion and suggested to put the "atomic level" on the theme of the conference to continue, for scholars engaged in related research providing a platform to broaden horizons, and develop together.
In 2020, it is the 85th birth anniversary of Mr. Pan Shoufu. Mr. Pan has devoted his life to the establishment and development of IAMP. Through a series of commemorative activities, the domestic and foreign forces of atomic level research have been vigorously gathered. Through extensive cooperation and exchanges, we have continuously promoted the progress of science in atomic and molecular physics.
