We aim to understand matters at the atomic and molecular level, to resolve fundamental and frontier physical problems, and to meet the national important requirements.
The main research areas of the institute include: (1) quantum control of atomic and molecular processes in ultrafast intense laser field; (2) atomic and molecular structure, spectrum and dynamics; (3) computational atomic and molecular physics under extreme conditions; (4) atomic and molecular physics in plasma; (5) molecular processes and their manipulation in biological tissues; (6) atomic and molecular physics related to national defense and energy.
