Zong-Chao Yan received his PhD degree in 1994 from University of Windsor, under the supervision of Gordon Drake. From 1995 to 1997, he was a postdoc fellow at the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics working with A. Dalgarno. After a brief stay at Windsor and the National Research Council of Canada, he accepted a tenure-track position at the Physics Department of the University of New Brunswick in 1999.
Yan has been working on precision calculations of few-body atomic and molecular systems for nearly 30 years. With Drake, he revolutionized atomic lithium calculations. With an experimental group at GSI, Germany, he made significant contributions to the first determination of halo 11Li nuclear charge radius.

In this online course, he will explain the relationship between precision measurements and fundamental physical constants. In particular, he will focus on the role that few-body atomic and molecular systems can play in this area. He will also discuss the 2019 redefinition of the SI base units and its impact on the fundamental constants.
