The Institute of atomic and molecular physics of Jilin University is an independent natural science research institution approved by the Ministry of education in 1979. It is a distinctive university affiliated research institution of Jilin University. As the earliest postgraduate training unit of atomic and molecular physics in China, we have trained thousands of excellent graduate students in the past 30 years. They are active in academic circles and other positions in China and abroad, and have made outstanding contributions to the scientific cause and the country. The Institute adheres to the academic concept of studying the state, structure, properties and change law of matter from the perspective of atomic and molecular interaction. Over the years, the Institute has continuously condensed the scientific research direction and built a high-level research platform. In terms of quantum control of atoms and molecules, ultrafast dynamics of atoms and molecules under strong laser fields, design of special functional materials and synthesis at high temperature and high pressure, material transport properties in terms of quality and dynamics, and high-pressure innovative science and technology methods, we will carry out innovative scientific research with characteristics.

In the next few years, the Institute will further strengthen the orientation of featured and advantageous disciplines, in combination with the future development of disciplines, the major needs of the country and the talent demand for building an innovative society. We will also form a first-class innovative research platform and interdisciplinary research groups, increase the introduction of talents and the cultivation of outstanding young teachers, build a high-level discipline team, strengthen the ideological and cultural construction and management system construction, and form an ecological environment for scientific development with innovation guidance, academic democracy, fairness and justice. What’s more, we will build a research institution with the ability to participate in the international frontier competition and undertake the national discipline, the major research projects, the scientific research and personnel training.
